Dim It — Screen Dimmer

Overview

Dim It is a screen dimmer utility for Android. It applies a dark overlay on your screen to reduce brightness beyond the system minimum. This privacy policy explains how the app handles your data.

Data Collection

Dim It does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. The app operates entirely offline and makes no network requests of any kind. There are no analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or tracking services in the app.

Local Storage

The app stores two preferences locally on your device to remember your settings between sessions:

• Dimmer enabled — whether the dimmer is turned on or off.
• Dimmer intensity — the brightness level you selected (0–100).

This data never leaves your device. It is stored using Android SharedPreferences and is deleted when you uninstall the app.

Permissions

The app requests the following Android permissions, each necessary for core functionality:

• Display over other apps (System Alert Window) — Required to draw the dimming overlay on top of your screen.
• Foreground Service — Keeps the dimmer running reliably while in use.
• Notifications — Shows a persistent notification while the dimmer service is active, as required by Android.
• Battery Optimization Exemption — Optional; prevents the system from stopping the dimmer service in the background.

Third-Party Services

Dim It does not integrate any third-party services, SDKs, or libraries that collect user data. The app has no internet permission and cannot access the network.

Children's Privacy

The app does not collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy is updated, the revised version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
